The maintenance of beliefs

And so, yet again, I sit down to author an essay on a topic I’m not sure I agree with for a class I don’t think I’ll do particularly well in – certainly not as well as I’d like.

I have a SAC (that’s ‘school assessed coursework’, it goes toward your final score) this week on the maintenance of the core belief in salvation of the Protestant Christian Tradition. I know, sounds very wordy, but VCAA seem to crave verbosity.

Basically, I have to write an essay on how the Protestant Christian belief about salvation has updated (not changed!) and the effects of these updates. It has to focus on The Reformation era, including Luther, Calvin, & Zwingli.

I’ll admit I am a bit concerned about how well I’ll go. But even though I don’t think it’s my best class, technically it is. Let me explain.

Previously, we’ve only done one SAC for this subject. Needless to say, I was worried about that one, too. So, recognizing that we were allowed to bring in anything we wanted, I pushed the ’back-up plan’ button – I wrote the essay in small size font and brought it in.

I won’t put my mark for it here, but suffice to say I was happy with it.

Now I face a dilemma – I have the ability to do the same for this essay, but in the final exam, I won’t be allowed to bring anything in.

Should short-term success come before long-term? Or vice versa? Does one effect the other?
